Zurich Netball Club was founded in Spring 2009 by a group of expats. Most of these ladies had not played since strict PE teachers made them play netball in the pouring rain at primary school.
From these humble beginnings, the club has gone from strength to strength. We have an ever-growing squad made up of total beginners to players who represent the Swiss National team. We are proud that our membership is made-up of people from all over the world: England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Papa New Guinea, Netherlands and India to name but a few!
Our Tuesday night sessions normally consists of a warm-up to improve mobility and prevent injury, skills training to improve our ball skills as well as attacking and defending skills, match play and finally the dreaded cool-down / core stability training.
The main aim of the club is to keep fit and have fun doing it. Everyone is more than welcome to join. No experience is necessary. We will help you understand the rules and guide you through the basic. If you want to try a new sport, come along and find out for yourself why netball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
Events coming up include:
- Participation in the Matterhorn Division of the Swiss Netball National League
- Themed training nights followed by drinks, including February Fasnacht, an Easter Egg-stravaganza and Beach night
- Bring a Bloke and Newbie Night to encourage anyone who is new to the sport to come for a taster session
- Friendly matches against other clubs
- Participation in National and International Tournaments
Zurich Netball Club is a member of Swiss Netball, the National Netball Association.

Hi
I am moving to CH in January, used to play something similar to Netball, would love to give it a try, how far are you from Zug?
Also, is this team meant to compete or can one just go for fun? I haven’t touched a ball since i was 18!
Thx
Veronica
Hi Vero!
You are more than welcome to join us! We are open for both competitive players and people who come more for fun 🙂 We have several members who come from Zug; please mail me at zurichnetball@gmail.com and I can give you more details.
Cheers, Jen
Good day,
We live in Zug and my 11 year old daughter would
Like to continue with Netball as she played in South
Africa.
Do your club or you know of any that accommodate
11 year old girls?
Zug has a club for ages 13 and older
Regards
Wiida
Hello Wilda, Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately we are in the same position as Zug and we don’t have a team specifically for girls. As netball is not as popular as it is in South Africa there aren’t the same opportunities here and the schools don’t play netball. You could get in touch with Swiss Netball and see if they are able to offer a solution. There are teams for girls but these are located in the French speaking part of Switzerland. We hope you find a solution. Lyndsay
Hi, I came across a post on Facebook “Girls in Zurich” and I would be really interested in trying out a new sport. As a runner, a team sport would be a nice change. I am totally new to netball and was wondering if that is alright? Thanks in advance, Sabina
Hi Sabina, Yes that is totally fine. Please feel free to come along and have a try to see if you like netball. We are a very social club and have a lot of different ages and abilities. You are more than welcome to join us! Lyndsay
