Final Countdown

It’s only a few days before we can (finally) celebrate being in our new home! On 24th August we will finally be able to ‘warm our house’. Come and join us at 8pm at Schule Kolbenacker. You can find directions to our new location here.

If you are intending to come please let us know by signing the Doodle: https://doodle.com/poll/wgrh2yqmrxm22f8q

If possible please wear indoor shoes or shoes that haven’t been us outside as we don’t want to mark the floors!

The celebrations will continue later when we will go to a local pub for a social drink.

We’re really looking forward to seeing old and new faces there!

If you have any questions please feel free to email the committee at zurichnetball@gmail.com and we will get back to you!

Back to Netball

After what seems like an age, it is almost time to celebrate moving to our new home!

If you remember back to October last year, we finally found a new home for Zürich Netball Club only for the latest lockdown to hit. Now that things have calmed down again we are finally able to have our big reopening and invite everyone back to netball!

On Tuesday 24th August we will be back in the sports hall at Schule Kolbenacker at 8pm for netball, fitness and a lot of fun. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all back. It’s been a long time since all the club members were back together but absence does make the heart grow fonder.

However, it’s not just old members were are looking to welcome back. We are also hoping that all the time trapped indoors with no sports to do has meant that some people in Zürich and the surrounding areas have been wondering about taking up a new hobby or coming back to netball. If that is you then please come a join us!

We plan to have a fun evening with lots of netball. If you have no experience and just want to try that’s no problem. All training will be provided ‘on the job’.’

If you are interested in joining us and celebrating our new home, please make sure you sign the Doodle so we know how many people to expect and we comply to current Covid regulations for track and trace.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at zurichnetball@gmail.com and one of the committee members will get back to you!

Return to Netball

After a long hiatus and many online fitness sessions, we are pleased to officially announce that we are BACK PLAYING NETBALL!

Because of the current restrictions we would still have to wear masks indoors but the weather has been kind to us so we can play outside with posts, a court and everything! We know you are all ready and raring to go so come along and join us this Tuesday at our new home Schule Kolbenacker at 7pm.

As the weather is super hot at the moment, please remember to bring water and suntan lotion with you. We still need to keep a record of attendance because of the ongoing situation so please make sure you sign up via our Doodle link here so we know who to expect.

If this is the first time for you to our new location, you can find directions here. We will be outside so it should be easy to find us!

Check our social media over the next few weeks for another important announcement!

Netball in March!

Last month we had lots of fun, including introducing blokes to netball, Sarah’s 5-mins of core workouts, and a fierce match against Zug. Here is Zurich and Zug in our post-match glory. Thanks for the great competition ladies!

March promises to be as exciting as February. On the 7th, we’ll follow training with some beers and nibbles at the pub. On the 27th, we’ll play host to the next monthly Zug vs Zurich match. And, of course, for those coming to the Copenhagen tournament, we’ll have lots of training to prepare us for next month’s competition!

Viel Schnee, Viel Netball!

Hope you’re enjoying the snow! If you’re wondering how to keep warm on your wintry Wednesday evenings, we’ve got you covered.  Here’s what ZNC has planned for February:

  • 6th Feb Training – Bring a Bloke night! A bit of fun to show the ‘blokes’ how we play the beautiful sport of Netball. We’ll then head into town for an after-training beer or two.
  • 13th Feb – School is closed, so no training this night. You’ll have to keep warm some other non-netball way.
  • 20th Feb Training – Regular netball training session, with lots of awesome netball.
  • 27th Feb Match – Reinstating the monthly matches against Zug. This game will be held in Zug. Who will win the first Zurich vs Zug match of 2019?

Sign up on the doodle to let us know if you’re coming, hope to see you there!

2019: New Year, More Netball!

Happy New Year! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas break, and are ready to get right back into Netball!

In 2019 we’ve got lots of Netball coming up. Here’s a quick overview of what’s happening:

  • Weekly Training! Wednesday night trainings have started again on the 16th of January.  Click here to confirm your availability for the month of January. This year many of the training sessions will be themed, including ‘newbie night’, ‘bring a bloke night’, even fancy dress!
  • Monthly Matches! We’ll recommence our end-of-month matches against fierce rivals Zug on the 30th of January.  Click here to sign up.
  • Tournaments! We have 2 big tournaments lined up so far (but keep an eye out for more to come)
    • The 7th of April is the Peppermill Tournament, the Swiss National Competition, to be held in Geneva. It’s been a while since we brought back the trophy, can we do it this year?
    • The 13th of April is the Copenhagen Tournament, to be held in, you guessed it, Copenhagen. International competitions are always a great weekend of netball fun, click here to sign up!
  • 10 Years! This year will be Zurich Netball Club’s 10 year anniversary! We’ll be celebrating with a very special event.

We’ll keep you updated on these and many more Netball events as they come.

If you’re new and want to come along to a training session, or join in one of the upcoming tournaments, feel free to reach out to us on zurichnetball@gmail.com, we’ll be happy to welcome you to our club.

We’ll Miss You Phil!

After being Head Coach of Zurich Netball for many many years, our beloved Phil is leaving us for the beautiful landscapes of Italy.

Phil has been an integral part of the club and we were so lucky to have her. Not only for her netball and umpiring wisdom, but for her encouragement and motivation for each of us to become better netballers.

Thank you for everything Phil, we wish you all the best.

Netball Training – Attack and Defence

As the Peppermill is only a month away, last night’s training at Zurich Netball Club was all about Attack and Defence, focusing on perfecting our Throw-Ins.

A great effort in the training drills was seen from everyone, followed by some fantastic match play. We are definitely ready to bring home that trophy. And look how colour-coordinated we were!
